The prime function of a rotary valve is to regulate the flow from one chamber to another while maintaining a good airlock condition. The product is mainly in dry powder or granular form.
In the dust filtration field good airlocks are essential on cyclone and bag filter applications in order that the manufacturer's quoted high dust collection efficiencies can be maintained. Airlocks are also important in the pneumatic conveying industry, where product is regulated into a high pressure conveying line while minimising air leakage.

Rotolok introduced a low cost solution to dust collector valve needs. The Dust Collector Valve is a lighter duty option for standard dust collection applications.
Constructed with a robust cast iron body and cast iron end covers. Bearings are inboard and shafts are sealed with lip seals. All valves are direct driven with a right angle gearbox and motor.

Rotolok offer an Easy Release rotary valve designed to allow just one person to maintain and easily clean the rotor. Being on rails saves on production downtime and reduces man hours. An inspection door can also be fitted in the valve body that provides access and surveying of the valve internals to check for wear.
Construction
Robust bodies and end covers can be manufactured from cast iron to stainless steel with open or closed rotors built to suit industry needs. Typical sizes range from 85mm (3.4 in) to 500mm (20 in) with other sizes made to order.

Blowthrough / Blowing Seals
Blowthrough/blowing seals meet the specific needs of the pneumatic conveying industry, a natural extension to the Rotary Airlock; both products are used to regulate the flow of dry powder, dust or granular product, while maintaining an airlock.
The blowthrough/blowing seal has distinct advantages for the specialist as it introduces high pressure conveying air through the valve body and rotor pocket ensuring – HIGH EFFICIENCY THROUGHPUT WITH LOW EFFECTIVE PRESSURE DROP.
This is achieved by the fact that more blades are in contact for longer periods with the valve body resulting in less air leakage – and by blowing through the rotor each rotor pocket is efficiently emptied.
The Rotolok range of seals is robustly constructed with an emphasis on close tolerances and minimal eccentricities, making the unit suitable for the majority of pneumatic conveying applications.

Offset Airlock Valve
The prime function of a Rotary Valve is to regulate the flow of dust, powder and granular products from one chamber to another whilst maintaining a good airlock.
The granule type of product, especially if it is a plastic type, polythene or nylon etc., does not shear easily and consequently, without considerable care the standard drop-through type of valve leads to valve seizure and also considerable shock loadings.
To minimize these problems the Offset Rotary Valve ensures lower pocket fillage as its design means that the rotor is still being filled in the upward cycle with the pellets falling away at the shear point. Similarly, the pelican beak distributes the product across the full width of the rotor.
